Hi, I'm Erika
Thank you for being here.
I am a woman who happens to be transgender. I've had adventures.... many, but not all of them, incredibly good.
The important thing to know about the traumatic ones is that I recovered in ways that help me hold space for your trauma. Being present with my painful history means that I can sit with you, in your pain, and not be afraid.
Often in therapy, it felt like I had to protect my therapist from the things that happened to me. If you've had that experience, you've come to a right place.
Of the incredible experiences, I often live in moments of eternity, of ego-dissolution. I've been immediately alive hiking in the wilderness and in walking my neighborhood; in motorcycling and in sitting on sand dunes, watching the sun set. I love my wife, my dog, and sailing.

A quick history:
I have a Bachelors Degree in Education, a Masters of Arts in Psychology, and a Juris Doctorate (law degree). I love learning and went into law and psychology because no one person could ever master everything there is to know in either field. As an attorney, I worked as a defense attorney and a prosecutor. I brought 10 appeals to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and won all 10, changing the law in most of those cases. I loved practicing law, but did not love the politics that was a part of it. I used my degrees in Education and Law to teach law in undergraduate programs and became a department chair at one of those colleges. I'd be teaching law today, were it not for state budget cuts.
After taking an early retirement due to budget cuts, I earned me MA in Psychology and worked as a therapist in a state prison and as a Crisis Counselor in a regional hospital. I loved both jobs. After the first year of Covid, working in the hospital, I decided to go into private practice. I love this job as well and can't imagine a better thing to be doing right now or for the foreseeable future.

Reaching me by phone is difficult, because I am often working with clients during normal business hours, or working on my boat when I'm not in my office and don't have the phone handy.
